Kitchens are said to be the centrepiece of our modern, open-plan homes. They are a space where we enjoy food while socialising with friends and family. Being the centrepiece, the design of your kitchen is paramount to the overall design of your house.
Discover some of the biggest kitchen trends below:
1. The Industrial Look
Industrial design is a growing trend, it combines natural materials such as wood, stone and concrete with details such as exposed brick, exposed pipes, rustic metals and minimalist furniture.
Grey is now said to be the staple colour for modern kitchens. Incorporate grey through the use of concrete floor or as a feature wall. It is still a neutral colour that can easily be layered with other styles.
3. Clutter-free worktops
Having a clutter-free worktop can open up the space of a kitchen and create the illusion of a larger kitchen space. There are high quality storage solutions to help hide small kitchen appliances. Therefore, kettles and toasters will find homes in deep drawers instead of on the kitchen bench.
Marble is a popular material among many renovators and home owners. It adds depth and texture and can add a real “wow” factor. As it shows a wide spectrum of light to dark shade, marble creates a nice transition in a black and white kitchen.
5. Matt Finishes
Glossy kitchens are now being replaced with the more natural look of matt finishes, particularly on benchtops. Using matt or textured tones adds another layer to a kitchen, while ensuring the palette isn’t too overwhelming.
